I can only think of how much easier it would have been when I was starting out if I would have started on EZ-CAM. It just all makes sense so it wasn’t even like learning something new for me. When I found out the new shop was using something different I was second guessing to not change jobs since the person I was replacing was no longer there and I was on my own to learn it. I have predominantly used MasterCAM, and SurfCAM at shops before changing jobs.

I have been using EZ-CAM for over 7 years now and find it to be the best all-around programming software I have used to date. I want to start off by saying that I’m not one to usually leave reviews on anything, but feel that I need to with the amount of time saved and the exceptional support that I have always received through the years dealing with EZ-CAM. And posting a program is a simple or complex as you want it to be since YOU have control over your POSTS with the provided M-Build and T-Build editors. This is the way to go whether you need to program a hole or build a complex program with 60 tools. They didn’t do anymore that EZ-CAM did for us and had a VERY big learning curve, whereas I can take a newbie and have them programming in a day with EZ-CAM. We were talked into many other EXPENSIVE software packages during the years, but unfortunately, they now sit “collecting dust”. 023' endmill in ebony (remember, this is a ramping op, so that max depth of cut (DOC) is only at the very end of the path), but thats as far as Im willing to push it. I have not needed to use anything but EZ-CAM for any programming, whether it is simple hole work, 3D surfing, indexing, or 4 axis simultaneous machining. The wobble of the blade and the tighter tolerances of the endmill combined to make much smaller slots on the CNC.
I use the PRO version because I do a lot of 3D milling and surfing. We use it for turning and milling and whichever one you program, this is the way to go. In fact, in one example, we had someone report that it took 10 minutes to upload a Windows 7 ISO to an iSCSI datastore and less than 1 minute to upload the same ISO to an NFS datastore. Reading back through the forum postings, its unclear if there are any consistent advantages to upgrade, other than, perhaps faster processing of.

There seems to be some issue with uploading files to a VMFS datastore. At the present time, I am using MeshCAM 5, and I have been reluctant to upgrade to MeshCAM 6 (and obviously MeshCAM 7), because I have yet to decide if the upgrade will provide any real improvements. Then I began programming offline when I began at Machining Concepts using EZ-CAM and have not looked back since. This is something which has come up numerous times, and behavior which many of you have observed. I was one who programmed at the machine control whichever it was where I used to work, and I can say I thought I was good at it. Here at Machining Concepts, we have used EZ-CAM since our beginning in 1995.
